Hummus is a creamy, protein-rich dip made from chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, garlic, and olive oil. It’s a staple in Mediterranean cuisine and is packed with fiber and heart-healthy fats. Here’s a simple recipe:
Ingredients:
Chickpeas – 1 can (15 oz), drained
Tahini – ¼ cup
Lemon Juice – ¼ cup
Garlic – 1 clove, minced
Olive Oil – 2 tbsp
Ground Cumin – ½ tsp
Salt – to taste
Cold Water – 2-3 tbsp (for consistency)
Paprika or Sumac – for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
Blend tahini & lemon juice – In a food processor, mix tahini and lemon juice for 1 minute until creamy.
Add garlic, olive oil, cumin, and salt – Blend again for 30 seconds.
Incorporate chickpeas – Add half the chickpeas and blend for 1 minute, then add the rest and blend until smooth.
Adjust consistency – Slowly add cold water while blending until creamy.
Serve – Transfer to a bowl, drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle with paprika or sumac.
